Dying to Know Day – 8th August 2026
Dying to Know Day is a National Day on the Australian calendar, held on the 8th August. Its purpose is to bring to life conversations and community actions around death, dying, bereavement and planning for end of life.
Why:
Australians are not dying the way they want to; 75% of us want to die at home, but less than 20% do.
Australians are not planning well for death - less than 10% of us have an advance care plan.
It’s time to bust the myth that death is taboo and no one wants to talk about it or plan for it, over 60% of Australians want more conversations about death and dying.
Penrose Funerals’s objective is to raise awareness of D2K Day in the Young, Grenfell and Cootamundra communities by assisting with conversations that normalise dying and to help the community work out what’s right for them at the end of their lives, understanding and differentiating terminology and options is key.
The staff at Penrose Funerals will gladly meet with you to discuss pre-planning your end of life wishes. Contact us to make an appointment.
